Youth Prevention Program Expands in Georgia

MARIETTA, GA — 11/3/2023 — DisposeRx is proud to announce the expansion of the youth prevention program Coaches vs. Overdoses, an alliance of sports programs, coaches, and communities across the nation committed to combating the opioid crisis and promoting drug-free communities. This expansion underscores DisposeRx and our partners’ dedication to the well-being of young people and reducing overdoses in the community.

DisposeRx has partnered with Davis Direction Foundation to bring the Coaches vs. Overdoses program to Marietta High School students. Coaches vs Overdoses, a national movement that brings together sports teams and coaches from various disciplines, focuses on educating and making young people aware of the risks of prescription medications and dangers of counterfeit pills. Research shows that after reviewing targeted information about fentanyl laced fake pills, 65% of young Americans are less likely to consider misusing prescription drugs.

Coaches vs. Overdoses educates athletes, parents, and community members about the dangers of prescription drug misuse and  medication safety. By providing coaches and parents with supporting materials and engaging students at athletic events, the initiative aims to raise awareness about the opioid crisis and equip youth with the knowledge needed to make informed, drug-free choices. Supporting materials include a prevention playbook, a booklet containing information on opioid misuse, counterfeit pills, and the dangers of fentanyl and other emerging drug trends. The booklet serves as a valuable conversation starter between parents, coaches, and students.

DisposeRx is equally enthusiastic about bringing Coaches vs. Overdoses to Marietta. “The support and dedication of The Davis Foundation helping to bring awareness, education and DisposeRx to Marietta High School align perfectly with our mission of eradicating medication misuse,” remarked William Simpson, President and CEO of DisposeRx. “Together, we can work towards a drug-free and supportive community where young people can thrive.”
