DisposeRx Acknowledges and Celebrates National Hospice and Palliative Care Month

SANFORD, NC — 11/16/2023 — DisposeRx, the preferred in-home medication disposal solution, proudly recognizes and celebrates National Hospice and Palliative Care Month throughout November. This month-long observance provides an opportunity to honor the compassionate and invaluable contributions of hospice and palliative care organizations across the nation such as the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO).

Courageous Conversations

The theme for National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, or HAPCM 2023, is Courageous Conversations. According to the HAPCM 2023 website, Courageous Conversations refers to the simple act of having a conversation with ourselves, family, or doctors about end-of-life care and the profound impact it can have on our quality of life.

In addition to prompting Courageous Conversations, HAPCM 2023 serves as an occasion to honor the dedicated healthcare professionals, volunteers, and organizations that provide vital support to individuals and their families facing serious and life-limiting illnesses. DisposeRx acknowledges the profound impact of hospice and palliative care services on improving the quality of life for patients during challenging times.

“As we commemorate National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, DisposeRx extends our gratitude to the tireless individuals and organizations dedicated to delivering compassionate end-of-life care. The work of hospice and palliative care providers aligns closely with our mission to enhance patient safety and well-being,” said Ed Leahy, PharmD. at DisposeRx.

Working towards comfort for all

DisposeRx supports the NHPCO’s work of expanding access to a person-centered model for healthcare—one that provides patients and their loved ones with comfort, peace, and dignity during life’s most intimate and vulnerable experiences. DisposeRx knows that often medications can remain in the home after a patient’s passing and as a result, loved ones are vulnerable to the risks of prescription drugs. DisposeRx’s medication disposal packets empower patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to safely dispose of unused or expired medications at the moment they are no longer needed, reducing the risk of misuse or overdose.

Throughout November, DisposeRx encourages individuals, healthcare providers, and communities to participate in National Hospice and Palliative Care Month. By having Courageous Conversations with those important to us and recognizing the compassionate care provided by hospice and palliative care teams, we collectively contribute to building a more supportive and compassionate healthcare environment
