DisposeRx Kicks Off Webinar Series on Collision of the Opioid Epidemic and COVID-19 Pandemic

SANFORD, NC – October 22, 2020 – DisposeRx, the product leader in at-home medication disposal solutions, launched a webinar series featuring discussions with legislators, pharma and addiction experts who are working to curb the opioid crisis.

Held yesterday, The Collision of the Opioid and COVID-19 Public Health Crises: An Ohio Perspective, was the first webinar in the series to draw attention to states greatly impacted by the opioid epidemic and now the pandemic. Several themes emerged during the Ohio discussion—including the unwavering commitment to the health and wellbeing of Ohioans; the positive impact of government, private and public collaboration; and the need for further investment in substance misuse education, prevention and recovery.

DisposeRx hosted the discussion in observance of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which is being held on Saturday, October 24.

The Ohio discussion was moderated by Courtney Hunter, Vice President of State Policy for Shatterproof, and panelists included:  State Representative Tim Ginter; Ernie Boyd, Executive Director of the Ohio Pharmacists Association; Nicholas Gonzales, Health and Wellness Compliance Officer/Chief HIPAA Privacy Officer, for The Kroger Corporation; Miranda Williams, Director of Pharmacy Programs for Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation; and Stan Jackson, Care Manager Addiction Services, for Healthsource of Ohio—a federally qualified health center.

“Ohio has been hit hard by both of these public health crises, but they are a strong model for other states on how you can unify and make progress if you have strong leadership, a common goal, innovative ideas and persistence,” said DisposeRx President William Simpson.

The webinar can be viewed on demand. A second webinar is planned in November and will focus on Kentucky.
