DisposeRx provided grant funding to Sesame Street in Communities for webinar series
As part of its Parental Addiction initiative, Sesame Street in Communities (SSIC) will host two additional webinars this fall.
Available on September 30, the “Responding with Care” webinar will feature a discussion with Jac Charlier, National Director, Center for Health and Justice at the Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities, and Jessica Trimboli, an Investigator with the Okaloosa County Sherriff’s Office in Florida. The webinar will offer resources and strategies to help law enforcement agents and other first responders better understand the effects of parental addiction on young children to guide their own interactions with children and families. The October 28 webinar, “Parental Addiction: Supporting Families in Recovery,” will feature Jan Brown, Founding/Executive Director of SpiritWorks Foundation Center for Recovery of the Soul, a community recovery organization, and board chair for Faces and Voices of Recovery, a leading recovery advocacy and education group. This webinar will offer ways faith-based communities and organizations can accompany children and families on their recovery journey. Register here.

The webinar series complements a wealth of Sesame Street in Communities Parental Addiction resources to help children and families build resilience and overcome the trauma of parental addiction. The free, bilingual resources include videos featuring Sesame Street Muppet Karli, whose mom is dealing with addition, as well as a storybook, activity sheets, an interactive digital activity, articles for caregivers, and digital professional development resources for providers.
