DisposeRx provided grant funding to Sesame Street in Communities for webinar series
This Wednesday, August 26, Sesame Street in Communities (SSIC) will host a free webinar for providers serving families affected by parental addition featuring Jerry Moe, National Director of the Hazelden Betty Ford Children’s Program. Designed for providers including child and family therapists, first responders, community leaders, and other service providers, this week’s webinar is the second in a series of four programs to support families coping with addiction. DisposeRx provided grant funding for the series, which is available at www.SesameStreetinCommunities.org.
The Parental Addiction: Healing Families Together webinar will feature a discussion with Moe, who was a key advisor on Sesame Workshop’s parental addiction initiative launched last year. Moe will offer insights and strategies around prevention and early intervention programs, youth educational support group development, and the implementation and facilitation of conscious parenting.
“The positive feedback from our retail pharmacy and Community Outreach partners about our support of Sesame Workshop was tremendous,” said William Simpson, President, DisposeRx. “They know and respect the brand and were eager to share the content developed by SSIC with their teams. All of our stakeholders are being impacted due to the effects of COVID-19 on the mental, physical and financial health of so many. As the pandemic and opioid epidemic collide, the resources provided by Sesame Street in Communities are more important than ever.”
The webinar series complements a wealth of Sesame Street in Communities Parental Addiction resources to help children build resilience and overcome the trauma of parental addiction. The free, bilingual resources include videos featuring Sesame Street Muppet Karli, whose mom is dealing with addition, as well as a storybook, activity sheets, an interactive digital activity, and articles for caregivers, as well as digital professional development resources for providers.
The first webinar in the series, The Child’s Voice: How Parental Addiction Affects Young Children, along with other Sesame Street in Communities’ parental addiction resources, can be accessed at www.SesameStreetinCommunities.org.
